This meeting focused on discussing innovation, sustainability, and ecological transformation. Veolia, a global leader in environmental solutions, operates in three main areas: Water, Waste, and Energy.
- Water: Distribution and treatment of water to ensure accessibility.
- Waste: Comprehensive waste management and recycling solutions.
- Energy: Promoting energy efficiency and developing green energy sources.
Veolia is at the forefront of innovation and green initiatives with a focus on decarbonization, regeneration, and pollution reduction through the integration of AI and digital technologies.
Seureca, a Veolia subsidiary with over 40 years of experience, has led impactful projects across the globe, including:
- Sustainable solutions for the management of liquid and/or hazardous waste treatment.
- Water collection and treatment in Namibia to increase potable water supply. Direct Potable Reuse at Wingoc -Windhoek Goreangab Operating Company. The City of Windhoek awarded the Wingoc a O&M contract for the New Goreangab Water Reclamation Plant. Veolia is the majority shareholder of Wingoc with 67% of the share and Wabag is the second shareholder with 33%.
- Developing waste-to-energy plants in partnership with Kengen, Kenya.
- Managing the Kimwarer Dam and providing technical assistance for water management in Kisumu, Kenya.
Veolia's commitment to sustainability is further strengthened by its partnership with Norfund, a Norwegian investment fund that empowers sustainable development across Africa, with its largest office in Kenya.
Key takeaways from the event include the emphasis on Public-Private Partnerships (PPPs) as a promising future for Kenya, ensuring sustainable, large-scale projects are viable and financially secure. Veolia's innovative business model continues to support the development of ecological solutions for a greener future.
