The French Chamber of Commerce in Kenya recently hosted a webinar in partnership with MMW Advocates LLP exploring the growing importance of Environmental, Social, and Governance (ESG) considerations for businesses operating across Africa. 

The session examined how ESG is rapidly evolving from a voluntary initiative to a strategic business requirement, driven by increasing regulatory expectations, investor scrutiny, and global sustainability frameworks. Participants gained insights into how companies can integrate ESG into their operations while strengthening competitiveness and access to funding. 

The discussion was led by Grace Waswa, who shared practical perspectives on navigating evolving ESG standards, aligning with international frameworks, and identifying emerging opportunities such as carbon markets within the African business context. 

The webinar provided valuable guidance for companies seeking to better understand ESG implementation and its implications for risk management, regulatory compliance, and long-term business resilience.
