Webinar with Pannike+Partners

Startup Health Check - Boost your Investor Readiness

Today's webinar kicked off with Elizabeth Omol, Legal Advisor at Pannike+Partners, welcoming various partners, Capital Club East Africa, Kenya Private Sector Alliance (KEPSA) alongside our team, and our expert speakers, Zachariah George, Managing Partner at Launch Africa Ventures and Gregor Pannike, LL.M., MBA, Managing Partner at Pannike+Partners.

Gregor Pannike, LL.M., MBA started us off with an insightful presentation on the legal requirements necessary for a successful startup setup:
- Ensure your key documents, such as the Articles of Association and Memorandum of Association, are properly drafted for your investors.
- Focus on complying with all tax considerations specific to the Kenyan jurisdiction when starting your business.
- Protect your revenue streams by registering your IP Rights with competent IP Rights Offices.
- Maintain a 'neat & clean' setup for investor due diligence, including orderly accounting, tax compliance, and a clear management structure.

South Africa-based Zachariah George took us through the relevance of Venture Capital:
- Most VCs typically invest at Series A and Series B due to the longer time needed to achieve product-market fit in African markets.
- The chances of your business failing post-Series A are lower in African markets compared to other regions.
- The cost of acquiring customers is high because purchasing power is relatively low in Africa.
- M&A activity remains a key exit driver in the nascent African Venture Capital ecosystem.

He also shared valuable insights on what it takes to secure Venture Capital funding.

A big thank you to our keynote speakers, fellow partners, and attendees for making the session informative and engaging!
