A deep dive into Uganda's thriving investment climate.

Yesterday, the French Chamber of Commerce Uganda - FCCU hosted a highly informative webinar exploring Uganda's thriving investment climate, in collaboration with the Uganda Investment Authority (UIA). Members of the French Chamber of Commerce Kenya and the French-Tanzanian Chamber of Commerce (FTCC) had the opportunity to gain valuable insights into the resources and incentives available for foreign investors in Uganda.

 Key Highlights from the Session:
1. Sectoral Opportunities: Uganda presents immense potential in sectors like energy, infrastructure, hospitality, ICT, real estate, health, mining, and value-added industries.
2. Government Incentives: Tax holidays, exemptions, and non-tax incentives were discussed, particularly for agriculture, manufacturing, and tourism.
3. UIA’s One Stop Center: This centralized platform simplifies business registration, tax advisory, immigration services, and trade facilitation for investors.
4. Sustainability Initiatives: Insights from the National Environment Management Authority (NEMA) emphasized green investment and environmental compliance.

 Expert Panel Discussions:
Panelists from UIA, Uganda Revenue Authority, NEMA, Uganda Registration Services Bureau, Uganda National Bureau of Standards and other key bodies shared actionable insights on:
- Navigating regulatory frameworks.
- Tax policies and investment incentives.
- Regional trade cooperation and green investment opportunities.

With Uganda’s GDP projected to grow by 6.5% in 2024/25, the country is positioned as a top investment destination in East Africa.
