Safeguarding the Digital Landscape and Enhancing Security in the work place. In an interconnected world with heavy reliance on digital technology, there are imminent online
threats. The risks resulting therefrom range from compromise of intellectual property and
financial loss to damage of IT infrastructure. Preparedness is a fundamental step in mitigating against cyber-attacks. Our silver member MGK Consulting shared valuable insights on protecting the confidentiality and integrity of information as well as ensuring availability to
authorized persons.

Maureen Maritim Chepkemoi, Senior Internal Auditor at MGK Consulting highlighted these
measures on preparedness against cyber-attacks for organizations:

• Putting in place elaborate security policies and procedures.
• Asset Inventory; data, hardware, software. You cannot protect what you do not know.
• Regular review of access control and privilege management.
• Defense-in- depth, that is, multiple layers of security control.

The second half of this webinar was a session on focused on physical security at the work place. What do you do in the event of an active shooter or terrorist attack whose intention is to cause harm and kill as many people as possible? Have you found yourself scanning new surroundings for the nearest exit just so you are ready in case of danger? Winnie Bolo, Trainer at Lady Askari, our silver member advised us to run if there is an accessible escape path or hide if the former is not possible. Where both these fail, fighting is a measure of last resort.
