The French Chamber of Commerce Kenya invites you to an exclusive, hands-on media training workshop : “Make the Headlines: The Practical Media Training Workshop for Businesses Ready to Get Press Coverage”, specifically designed for businesses looking to build their media presence, communicate their story with confidence, and secure meaningful coverage in Kenyan and international press. 

Delivered by William Herkewitz, a Nairobi-based communications consultant and journalist whose work has appeared in The New York Times, VICE, and Healthbeat, this workshop focuses on practical tools and techniques you can immediately apply to how your business engages with the media.

Session 1: Building Your Media Strategy (Friday, June 19, 8:00 am - 10:30 am) 

- Understanding journalists: Learn how reporters work, what drives their decisions, and what they need from sources

- Pitching your story: Turn a company announcement into a compelling pitch that journalists actually want to cover

Session 2: Owning the Interview (Friday, June 26, 8:00 am - 10:30 am)

- Message preparation: Define your key messages and learn to stay on them under pressure

- Live mock interviews: Practice real media conversations and receive direct feedback on clarity, delivery, and messaging

More About William Herkewitz

William Herkewitz is a journalist and strategic communications expert with over 10 years of experience in media and public affairs. His work has appeared in The New York Times, Esquire, VICE and Popular Mechanics. He has led communications for U.S. foreign assistance programs and served as Head of Communications in Rwanda, Ethiopia, and Kenya with USAID, overseeing large-scale communications projects and public engagement during crises and humanitarian responses. His work focuses on science, technology, global health, and policy, combining journalism and strategic communications to support impactful storytelling. 

This workshop is designed to be highly interactive and practical, with direct application to your business context. Capacity limited to 15 participants to ensure an interactive, high-quality experience. The workshop runs continuously for 2.5 hours, and full attendance is required.
