As East Africa continues to demonstrate resilience amid global economic uncertainty, businesses and investors are increasingly looking to the region as a key driver of growth on the African continent. Yet the outlook for 2026 will be shaped by a complex mix of opportunities and challenges, including evolving geopolitical dynamics, public debt pressures, infrastructure investments, currency movements, trade integration, and shifting investor sentiment.
This exclusive breakfast briefing will provide a comprehensive overview of the macroeconomic outlook across East Africa region, offering practical insights into the trends most likely to influence business performance, investment decisions, and market opportunities in the year ahead.

Drawing on the French Treasury's regional expertise, the discussion will provide a forward-looking assessment of East Africa's economic trajectory, examining the macroeconomic trends, investment opportunities, and policy developments expected to shape the region in 2026. Particular attention will be given to growth forecasts, public finance and debt dynamics, trade and regional integration, as well as the key risks and opportunities that businesses and investors should be monitoring in the year ahead.
The Regional Economic Department in Nairobi, part of the French Treasury under the French Ministry of Economy and Finance, monitors economic and financial developments across East Africa and the Indian Ocean region. Through its analysis and engagement with public and private stakeholders, it supports French businesses operating in the region and contributes to economic cooperation initiatives.
