CEO Roundtable : Elections, Geopolitics and Business Stability

Navigating uncertainty : how elections and geopolitics are reshaping business strategy in Kenya.

On Tuesday 22nd of April, we hosted in partnership with ALN Kenya a timely CEO Roundtable on “Elections, Geopolitics and Business Stability” at ALN House.

The session brought together business leaders and decision-makers from across sectors for an in-depth discussion on the geopolitical, economic and regulatory forces shaping the business environment in Kenya and across the region.

The conversation explored how global disruptions, from supply chain volatility and rising fuel costs to broader geopolitical tensions, are no longer short-term shocks but structural factors that businesses must integrate into their planning. Speakers highlighted the growing importance of resilience, strategic foresight and proactive risk management in an increasingly uncertain environment.

A key area of focus was the link between election cycles and business stability. The discussion examined the role of institutional trust, regulatory pressure, and market confidence, while emphasising the need for businesses to prepare early for potential operational, reputational and contractual risks.

Participants also reflected on the practical implications for the private sector, including :

- The impact of rising logistics and energy costs on operations,
- The need to review key commercial contracts and risk exposure,
- The importance of scenario planning and regulatory mapping,
- and the opportunities emerging from infrastructure, aviation and intra-African trade.

Despite the challenges discussed, the roundtable also underscored Kenya’s long-term resilience and strategic position within the region. Its diversified economy, strong private sector, growing infrastructure base and regional relevance continue to make it a market of significant opportunity.

The event served as a valuable platform for exchange, offering business leaders both a clearer view of current risks and a stronger perspective on the opportunities that can emerge through informed, agile and forward-looking leadership.

We thank ALN Kenya, our speakers, and all participants for contributing to such a rich and insightful discussion.
