Breakfast Meeting: Building the Plastic Credit Ecosystem in East Africa
The French Chamber of Commerce Kenya, in partnership with our Platinum Member ALN Kenya | Anjarwalla & Khanna and Removall Carbon, was delighted to host a high-level breakfast workshop on "Building the Plastic Credit Ecosystem in Africa."
With a room full of C-level executives, ESG and Sustainability Leaders, the discussion unpacked the legal, operational, and market dynamics that will shape the continent’s plastic credit journey.
Key insights included:
- The urgency of addressing plastic mismanagement, expected to heighten if left unchecked
- The role of plastic credits in scaling recovery and recycling infrastructure
- The importance of high-integrity, auditable plastic credits as a complement to EPR frameworks
- Kenya’s evolving legal landscape — from the Sustainable Waste Management Act to EPR regulations, and how they align with emerging credit frameworks
- Case studies from Removall on how plastic credits drive both environmental impact and community development
From tax structuring to SDG alignment — it’s clear that multi-stakeholder collaboration is essential to unlocking scalable, sustainable plastic solutions.
A big thank you to our speakers and partners:
- Domitille Guilloton, Executive Director, FCCK
- Carlotta Dal Lago, ALN Kenya
- Patrick Demaegdt & Côme Falque, Removall
- Sharon Muoki, ALN Kenya
We’re happy to have facilitated an important dialogue that not only triggered critical questions, but also reinforced the urgent need for policy advocacy, corporate responsibility, and investment in circularity.
Let’s keep the conversation going — and the momentum growing.
